Default Raven Lite 2.0 and OSX 10.10.5 - Installer quits "unexpectedly"

Hi --

I downloaded the new Raven Lite 2.0 and same problem with OSX Yosemite as the previous version. The Installer quits "unexpectedly."

OS X 10.10.5
Java 8, update 144 (latest)
Quick Time vers. 10.4

Any ideas? Failing this it is back to Audacity.

Thanks so much in advance,

Norm P.

Hi Norman,

Please do submit this as a tech support issue by emailing raven_support@cornell.edu. That way we won't clog the email inboxes of the whole Raven Help Forum community with our back-and-forth.

By the way, raven_support@cornell.edu accepts email attachments.

Default Case Closed re: Raven Lite 2.0 and OSX 10.10.5 - Installer quits "unexpectedly"

Buggy older version of OS X was the likely cause of the problems. Upgraded to Sierra and RL installs and runs fine. Thanks for the help.

I see Raven Lite does not support drag and drop file opening, at least not WAV files--big fail and lock up! No file directory for finding files.

Hi Norman,

I am happy to hear that you can Raven Lite 2.0 up and running!

Raven Lite 2.0 still supports drag and drop file opening, including with WAVE-format audio files. Unfortunately, there are some variants of the WAVE format that Raven has a hard time interpreting, especially during a drag and drop. The good news is the Raven developers will be addressing this issue soon. Stay tuned for an update, hopefully in the next few weeks.

I'll see what the developers say about more support for navigating through file systems.

One thing that you may not have noticed is the choice in the "File" menu to "Open Recent Folder", which can save you a lot of clicking through folders. You can also change the default path that Raven uses to open sound files by changing the "raven.ui.openFileChooser.defaultDirectory" property in RavenPreferences.txt, which you can open by selecting "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu.
