Default How to run Raven on PowerPC Macs with older OS X (e.g. 10.2 Jaguar)

In 2005 Apple introduced universal binaries to allow applications to run on both PowerPC and Intel based Macs. Under this implementation, a file named “JavaApplicationStub” must be copied into the Raven application package on some machines.

If Raven does not run on your Mac OS X:

Open the Applications list and expand the Utilities folder by left click
Double-click Console, then double-click Raven

If the Console displays the following error message:

dyld: /Applications/Raven
1.2/Raven.app/Contents/MacOS/JavaApplicationStub can't open library:
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

Download the attached file JavaApplicationStub.zip
Double-click the file and unzip onto the Desktop
Open the Applications list and click on the Raven Folder
Right-click (or Ctrl-click) the "Raven" program file and select “Show Package Contents”
Double-click “Contents” and then double-click “MacOS”
Rename the "JavaApplicationStub" in the MacOS folder to "JavaApplicationStub.bak"
Move the JavaApplicationStub file on the Desktop into this folder

Double-clicking Raven and it should run as usual.

File Type: zip JavaApplicationStub.zip (5.3 KB, 463 views)
